TEAM IRELAND CALL UP MAD DOG RIDER

The MCUI Motocross Commission have announced the members of Team Ireland for the Motocross of Nations to be held at Kegums, Latvia on 27th & 28th September.

The Team is unchanged since last year as the three best riders in Ireland virtually pick themselves, and are the strongest team the MCUI can field

The team will consist of:

Stuart Edmonds from Dublin, Stuart is having a great year at home, currently leading the Irish Championship with one round to go on his Mad Dog CCR Suzuki, Stuart has represented his Federation many times and is always a regular points scorer, he is currently 16th in the MX1 British Championship, he will be riding the Open Class at Kegums

Grame Irwin from Carrickfergus is another seasoned Motocross of Nations Team member, the youngest rider on the Team, Graeme will be riding his Heads & All Threads Suzuki in the MX1 Class at the Nations, currently 4th in the MX1 Class in the British Championship, Graeme certainly has the speed required, but has been crash prone, as shown at the last British Round at Cusses Gorge, but he has managed to retain his speed while cutting down the crashes since his switch to the bigger MX1 machines

Martin Barr from Doagh is the veteran of the Team, riding his favourite class at the Motocross of Nations on the MX2 250 Nutt Travel/Vigors KTM, Martin has been a strong Team player for Team Ireland for many years, he has had a disrupted 2014 season due to a nasty shoulder injury that required surgery, but his rehabilitation has been helped by the staff at the Sports Institute of Northern Ireland where he has been training for the past year, now back on the bike, Martin can only get stronger as his favourite event draws closerTeam Manager Laurence Spence is very happy with the Team selection, he said, ‘These three are the strongest riders we have available from the island of Ireland, we can go to Latvia in the knowledge that they will all give 100% and we will do our best to at least make the main races without having to ride the Last Chance on Sunday’

Team Ireland have made a habit of qualifying through the B Final on Sunday morning, this means the riders having little rest on Sunday, the main goal will be achieving qualification on Saturday afternoon this year, the fast sandy Kegums track may suit our riders, although none of them have ridden there before, their experience will negate this issue
